6th Session of Tibetan Parliament:

 The sixth session of the Tibetan Parliament has begun on September 8. On its first day, the members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile (TPIE) paid solemn tributes to all the Tibetans who sacrificed their precious lives for the common cause of Tibet and also who are undergoing suffering under the repression of the Chinese government.

Tibetan exiles in Nepal mark Olympics close with anti-China rally:

About 2,000 Tibetan exiles, including children, monks and nuns, joined a protest rally in Katmandu on Sunday August 24, hours before the closing ceremony of the Olympics in Beijing.

Indian Police break up hunger strike in New Delhi:

The third batch of indefinite chain hunger strike in New Delhi came to an abrupt end with police intervention around 16:45 on August 23. Three police vans and two buses carrying more than 150 men arrived at Jantar Mantar and forcibly moved five of the six men to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Post Olympics – Tibetans continue protest at Chinese Embassy in New Delhi:

11 members of the Tibetan Youth Congress staged an aggressive demonstration at the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi at around 2:30 pm on August 25 to protest the intensified repression in Tibet since the March Uprising inside Tibet.

His Holiness returns after successfully concluding visit to France:

Scores of people, including Tibetans and other devotees carrying incense, scarves and flowers, welcomed His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his return to Dharamshala on Sunday August 24, after successfully concluding a twelve-day visit to France from 11-23 August.

General body meeting of the Himalayan family

For the protection and preservation of Himalaya and Himalayan regions’ religion, culture and sacred places, Himalaya Parivar has organized a meeting at Dharamsala on February 12. The Parivar organized a Nationwide Signature Campaign from November 14, 2007 to February 22, 2008.

For the global peace, the 4th Universal Peace March of the undergraduate students was held from January 28 to February 7. There were 80 students of different colleges from around eight different independent countries took part in it.

Dalai Lama begins teachings for “Korean Dharma friends”:

His Holiness the Dalai Lama on August 4 began three-day Buddhist teachings at the Main Tibetan Temple (Tsuglagkhang) at the request of a Korean group, which he referred to as “our Korean Dharma friends” and it’ll end up by August 6 noon.

On August 11, TYC General Secretary Tenzin Norsang led a resolute group of about 150 activists to obtain a response to their memorandum submitted July 29 at the United Nations Office in New Delhi.
